Michael McCormick

Executive Director and COO of the National Business Travel Association

NBTA hands out Report Card to US Administration
and FAA.

Michael shares with Sandy the NBTA’s report card given to the US legislators in Washington, DC. NBTA has been a strong critic of this Administration as well as the previous administration. We’ll hear why the Administration C+ looks promising compared to the F given to the FAA. Michael talks about Air traffic infrastructure as well as the efficiency and security of airports.

New benefits to membership now offer the NBTA Benchmarking tool to all members, previously it was a pay to play application.

Now it’s open to the entire membership. ROI is so important and now that is part of the NBTA offering to all members. Membership is both buyers and suppliers. At our heart we are a buyer led organization.

Interested in the NBTA Strategic Travel Symposium with BTN Online? It’s coming up in March 2010. Other events to view are in NY Canada and Mexico.

G. Web Ross
Author of Rescuing the American Dream: The Entrepreneur’s Way

Listen to Audio of Interview HERE

February is National Start a Business Month
A broad survey of Americans has revealed the American Dream is starting to fade, with fewer people than ever buying homes, obtaining healthcare coverage and getting married. More people are out of work and those who aren’t are earning less.

The data, provided by the Annual Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, showed a sweeping look at life from the viewpoint of more than 3 million American homes, with many of the maladies striking Americans being blamed on the recession.

However, one retired CEO believes that it is the changing values of executives, entrepreneurs and employees – not the recession – that is to blame for most of our woes.

Andrea Wrba, General Manager of the InterContinental Hotel in Jericho, Palestine

Meet Me in Jericho

Andrea joins Sandy as the first and only female general manager of an InterContinental Hotel in the Middle East, in Palestine to be exact.
– Challenging – Exciting and Doable!

Andrea came to Palestine in July where she now manages one of the premiere properties in the country. Situated in one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, Jericho, the InterContinental is perfect for meetings and educational conferences. The backdrop of Jericho offers history, culture and this year marks the beginning of a multi-year celebration to honor Jericho's 10,000th birthday.

The Jericho InterContinental operation includes 200 staff, 181 bedrooms and can accommodate 350 persons in its meeting room.

Besides meetings, Andrea also talks about weddings and incentive packages along with some of the highlights within the Jericho region include the Dead Sea and Jerusalem is only 30 minutes away by car.

One of the best ways to arrive is to fly into Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan. The 45 min trip to the bridge at the Palestinian border can sometimes get bogged down at the check point but it is a beautiful region to see. The other possibility is flying into Tel Aviv. The roads are tremendous throughout Israel and Palestine with only an hour and 15 minute drive from Tel Aviv to the Jericho InterContinental.

Andrea was a guest on TravelTalkRADIO in December while Sandy stayed at the InterContinental in Jericho. Listen Here
