And that’s how many Dan Hotels there are
in Israel: 13. From the historic King David Dan Hotel overlooking
the Dome of the Rock and the walls of the ancient city of Jerusalem
to the wide, sandy Mediterranean beaches of the Dan Panorama Hotel
in Tel Aviv, we guarantee you will find accommodations that meet
your budget and your mission. We always take delight in talking with
our long time friend and colleague, Rafi Baeri.http://bit.ly/dj8ph3
Sandy and Patrick talk about the initial 4 months of producing
BusinessTravelRADIO and the goals of the program. You are invited to
share your stories and comments with the team
HERE.
We’ll talk with the CNN Health nutritionist about how business
travelers can effectively deal with the inherent problems with
eating right while on the road. From starving you on the plane
on the way to your destination to the huge (and frequent)
portions available at business meeting meals and receptions,
it’s a real challenge to attain a balanced nutrition. Dr. Molina
gives us some great tips on coping and planning and reminds us
of a wonderful quote from Hippocrates, the
ancient health expert: “Let food be your
medicine.”
In 2001, the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, made the
conscious decision that his country should become more
involved in promoting international travel and tourism
in order to stimulate the national economy. It's
working! Meet Mr. Othman Cherif Alami who similarly
believes that business travel is critical to
Morocco's economic well being. We'll talk about some of
the long term results of business travel including
immigration and repatriation, and we also discuss the
country's positive commitment to encouraging foreigners
to visit and to do business with Morocco.

Othman is also the president
of Atlas Voyages, founded by his father in 1964.

Trusted Travelers, Global Entry, Enhanced Drivers License, Electronic System Travel Authorization.
The folks at DHS have a difficult and complex task: keep our country and its citizenry safe and secure and, at the same time, facilitate international trade and travel. We discuss several programs designed to make international business travel easier. Now operational in 20 major international airports across the US, the Global Entry program helps to speed the return of US business travelers from overseas. The Enhanced Drivers License (EDL) is now available in Washington State, Michigan, New York and Vermont and utilizes RFID technology to assist frequent Canadian border crossers. There is also the Electronic System Travel Authorization (ESTA) program for US bound travelers from visa waiver countries. http://www.DHS.gov
TRO has created a virtual work environment for travel agents that includes functional marketing tools, sound practical advice and thoughtful editorial views. We’ll talk with Richard about one the recent articles he authored called Four Steps to Greatness in which he explores what it takes to become “insanely great” in the travel industry. Legislation and Taxation; It's a different story in Europe.
Kevin opens this week's BusinessTravelRADIO with Sandy to discuss his activities these past few months as the Chairman of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA). Looking beyond the USA and into Europe, Kevin talks about similar challenges both regions face and the primary differences when it comes to lobbying and taxation.
Kevin will also discuss his day job as the sports team travel buyer for all the athletic teams at the University of Texas. He’ll also offer some suggestions on how to learn more about this profession. In fact, the NBTA believes this is such an important category of business travel that they even have a team travel specialist on staff! The future looks bright in sports travel!
And finally, Kevin will talk about what he believes to be the biggest issues in travel, including the aging US air traffic control systems. Kevin is always a most interesting guest. Don't miss this interview.
Meet Me in Jericho
Andrea joins Sandy as the first and only female general manager of an InterContinental Hotel in the Middle East, in Palestine to be exact.
– Challenging – Exciting and Doable!
Andrea came to Palestine in July where she now manages one of the premiere properties in the country. Situated in one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, Jericho, the InterContinental is perfect for meetings and educational conferences. The backdrop of Jericho offers history, culture and this year marks the beginning of a multi-year celebration to honor Jericho's 10,000th birthday.
The Jericho InterContinental operation includes 200 staff, 181 bedrooms and can accommodate 350 persons in its meeting room.
Besides meetings, Andrea also talks about weddings and incentive packages along with some of the highlights within the Jericho region include the Dead Sea and Jerusalem is only 30 minutes away by car.
One of the best ways to arrive is to fly into Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan. The 45 min trip to the bridge at the Palestinian border can sometimes get bogged down at the check point but it is a beautiful region to see. The other possibility is flying into Tel Aviv. The roads are tremendous throughout Israel and Palestine with only an hour and 15 minute drive from Tel Aviv to the Jericho InterContinental.
Andrea was a guest on TravelTalkRADIO in December while Sandy stayed at the InterContinental in Jericho. Listen Here
