Essence of the Vision

THIS Week! TANZANIA

Special thanks goes to Bettie Loibooki.

Bettie accompanied us throughout 4 National Park and worked tirelessly from sun up to sun down to make sure we had the best vantage for our cameras. Starting with sun rise drives through out Serengeti to late night safaris at Lake Maynera to the hippo pools, Bettie left
nothing to the imagination.
Bettie plays a key role in the administration of the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) organization and we were very fortunate and grateful to have Bettie accompany us throughout beautiful Tanzania.

Thank you Bettie for your time, your wonderful sense of humor and knowledge of this most fascinating part of the world! And most of all, we thank you for your friendship and warm hospitality. . . Ahsanta Sana, Sandy

With such a perfect Location, perched on the edge of the African continent, and facing the Indian Ocean, Tanzania’s weather and climate leaves nothing to be desired. Warm and sunny days are followed by cool and balmy nights, and whether you’re on safari on the Serengeti plains or enjoying the tropical beaches of Zanzibar, the temperatures are always welcoming and gentle. Consult Weather and Climate to find out when the best times to visit are, and learn more about the monsoon winds and seasonal rains.

But sun-filled and beautiful days are not all that Tanzania has to offer. On the contrary, the country’s borders hold a vast number of people and tribes whose varied cultures and traditions make up the rich tapestry that is Tanzanian culture. Read on to learn more about the Masaai culture and the customs of the Swahili Coast.

Although Tanzania is a country rich in culture and traditions, it’s history is also one of treasured heritage and pride. From the early days of mankind's history, man has called the land of Tanzania home - its verdant mountains, its scrubland plains. Find out more about our country’s rich
history, from the arrival of merchants and traders on the Swahili Coast to the peaceful political climate that exists today.

GERALD BIGURUBE

Director General of Tanzania
National Parks (TANAPA)

In Africa, there is no doubt, contrast
is the essence of  vision.
Sandy Dhuyvetter

TravelTalkMEDIA would like to thank Mr. Bigurube for making it possible to come to Tanzania and experiencing a trip of a life time.

Mr. Bigurube is a true expert  on preservation and growth of the National  Parks. This interview is  guaranteed to be fascinating!

The primary role of Tanzania’ national parks is conservation. The 15 national parks, many of which form the core of a much larger protected ecosystem, have been set aside to preserve the country’s rich natural heritage, and to provide secure breeding grounds where its fauna and flora can thrive, safe from the conflicting interests of a growing human population.

The existing park system protects a number of internationally recognized bastions of biodiversity and World Heritage sites, thereby redressing the balance for those areas of the country affected by deforestation, agriculture and urbanisation. The gazetting of Saadani and Kitulo National Parks in 2002 expanded this network to include coastal and montane habitats formerly accorded a lower level of protection.

Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) is also currently acquiring further land to expand certain parks, and to raise the status of traditional migration corridors connecting protected areas.
