Welcome to this week's TravelTalkMEDIA Newsletter -
The first week of October is on us and we are officially closing out the summer calendar and welcoming the new fall programming. This week you will have the chance to meet the leaders of four prestigious travel organizations. And you will meet the founder of an innovative company that offers a great way to wear your ID and put it on your luggage, too.

We leave for South Korea and the World Tourism & Investment Summit later  this week and look forward to meeting with many of our colleagues there. We will have the opportunity to interview many of the attendees including the Ministers of Tourism and high ranking officials and executives from over 45 countries. I am especially excited to introduce our audiences to America's Tribal Council leaders who represent Native American casino destinations to our show in the next few weeks.  For now, enjoy this week's program and please continue to let us know what is on your mind.
Safe Travels,

Sandy Dhuyvetter

IS THERE REALLY A COUNTRY NAMED YAP?
Join Sandy Dhuyvetter and eTurboNews Publisher, Thomas Steinmetz, as they introduce their audiences to the country of Yap.

In an exclusive interview broadcast live from the Adventure Expo in Seattle, Don Evans, General Manager of the Yap Visitors Bureau talks about the wonder of this tiny island nation and its recent emergence from near obscurity.

The state within the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) Yap is
renowned for its scuba and snorkel diving because its the diverse sea life including the Giant Pacific Manta Ray like the one pictured
to the right.

Visitor's Bureau Web site.

With nine resorts, one airport and less than 7,000 total inhabitants, the four islands of Yap are not known as tourism hotspots  -  not yet anyway! Thomas Steinmetz, Publisher of eTurboNews, met with Don Evans, President of Yap Tourism, at the Adventures in Travel Expo in Seattle. Thomas put the American-born, 40-year resident of Yap in touch with Sandy for an exclusive.

Known as the island of stone money, Yap's inhabitants still use the giant stone currency (pictured above) to purchase land and in village ceremonies.
