Welcome to this week's TravelTalkMEDIA Newsletter

What a great week! I hope you too were successful in all your endeavors. We have some exciting announcements starting with welcoming new sponsors at TravelTalkMEDIA. STI-Middle East, a company offering Jordan as a complete destination for business and leisure travelers is our main focus this week. I have known the founder and director, Mona Naffa for many years and I am very honored to recommend STI-ME. This week Mona will join me to talk about her company and the offerings of Jordan.

For a complete offering of worldwide travel we are very excited to begin promoting Collette Vacations! What a company! They make every vacation the most memorable, and they offer a complete array of products, services and great lifestyle solutions that make our lives richer.  We did an interview with Dan on May 17. Click HERE if you would like to listen. Dan will also be joining me next week to talk about the new offerings at Collette Vacations.

We also welcome the National Tour Association onboard, and we are excited to broadcast in Reno at the upcoming conference in November.

We are moving our headquarters to San Francisco Bay area this week. Our love for the San Diego region remains, but to get back to a truly International City and region is very important to us. Our new offices will be in San Mateo. One thing to note, some things never change. Once we arrive in the Bay Area, we will continue our travels, starting with Washington DC, where I will be staying at the Gaylord National Harbor while presenting at The Corporate Council on Africa Business Summit in DC.

And now for this weeks lineup!

The Hair Salon in Timbuktu attracts top Canadian Tourism Expert
Rick Antonson, President & CEO of Tourism Vancouver and Author of To Timbuktu for a Haircut
Just up the hill from Vancouver in British Columbia this February there will be a little sporting event you may have heard of: The XXI Olympic Winter Games. The head of tourism in Vancouver, Rick Antonson, gives a rundown on preparations for this event, as well as why the region is such a world-class destination. We’ll also get a peak into Rick’s new book, To Timbuktu for a Haircut. (Yes, he’s been there, and yes he got a haircut. But why?!)

Bucket List for Buses
Peter Pantuso, President and CEO of the American Bus Association (ABA)
Pete Pantuso joins us to talk about the ABA’s Top 100 Events in North America for 2010. Now in its 28th year, this is an annual competition and the winning events chosen for inclusion in the list are those that have the greatest appeal to large tour groups, that can readily accommodate motorcoaches (parking,
etc.), and that are among the very finest in the land. So, it’s basically a “bucket list” for group travel! With many Americans and Canadians pulling in their horns a bit in a tight economy, getting a group of friends
and family together for a motorcoach tour to some of the Top 100 Events might be just what the banker ordered. Other than walking or biking, it’s also the greenest way to travel!

The Travel Industry Returns to the Heart of London
Tom Nutley, Managing Director of The Travel Club (TheClub.travel) in London, UK

When he retired after 25 years as the Chairman of Reed Travel Exhibitions a while back, we wondered what Tom Nutley would tackle next. After all, Reed is the world’s leading events organizer and Tom was responsible, among other things, for organizing the World Travel Mart in London each year. Well, Tom is back and he’s decided to give the travel industry a new, classy home in the heart of London. Well ... not exactly a new home ... it did belong to Lady Astor at one point. Tom talks to us about his newest creation: The Travel Club. It’s a rather posh, exclusive hotel right near Piccadilly Circus with mind-blowing amenities, and it’s just perfect for high-level meetings of travel industry execs. He’ll also tell us about a wonderful charitable foundation near and dear to his heart: Just a Drop.  Continued

Color Me Green
David Krantz, Washington Coordinator for the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST)
The Center for Responsible Travel has been focused on sustainable tourism long before it was considered a cool thing to do. You might think that an organization like this would be somewhat skeptical of all the folks jumping on the “green bandwagon” of late. Not so. As David explains, an industry as big as travel and tourism - perhaps the biggest industry in the world - needs all the help it can get if it’s going to really be sustainable in the long run.

A Jordanian-Californian Living in Amman offers travel solutions for Business and Leisure
Mona Naffa
, Founder and Director of Society of Tourism International - Middle East (STI-ME.com)

Mona Naffa was born in Southern California to Jordanian parents (a beauty queen and a history professor – but that’s another story). As a young woman, Mona fell in love with and married a Jordanian tourism executive and returned with him to live in Amman. There she created a company specializing in providing customized services to individual travelers coming to Jordan. Recently, her company joined forces with Expedia to offer even more complete tourism and travel services within this incredible country. Listen in to find out more about why you should visit Jordan and why the Dead Sea is one of Mona’s very favorite places in the world.

And That's All Folks (for this week, anyway)!
Patrick and I will wrap up the show talking about our exciting news: TravelTalkMEDIA is relocating to San Francisco this month! This was my headquarters and home of 20 years and I "left my heart" there when I came to Southern California. I'll also give you "the skinny" on many additional good reasons for this strategic move. Plus, we'll vote on our favorite segments of the show and talk about our new sponsors, Collette Vacations, one of the oldest tour and travel companies in the US (if not THE oldest!).

Thanks for stopping by and please remember, whether we are on the road, in the office or moving to San Francisco, I answer all my email.

Have a great week and remember, 'keep it under 90'.

Warm regards,
