Welcome to this week's TravelTalkMEDIA newsletter.

We have plenty coming up in the next couple of weeks. Next week, the TravelTalkMEDIA crew heads to Tanzania for the Africa Travel Association’s 33rd Annual Congress in Arusha, Tanzania, from May 19-23. We’ll hold two live broadcasts in the country and connect our audiences to the experts in African travel. We'll spend our second week totally submerged in Tanzania.

Good news – TTM is pursing talks with the Chinese radio station Voice of Nanjing about possible expansion and cooperating with more programming – both in the U.S. and in China. More information coming soon!

This week, David Peckinpaugh, President and CEO of the San Diego Conventions and Visitors Bureau (ConVis), joins the program to talk about National Tourism Week, the tourism industry in the San Diego region and the city’s outreach to the International markets.

In the coming weeks, watch for special guest Roger Dow, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Travel Industry Association (TIA), who will be joining me to discuss the United States' image abroad and its challenges in attracting visitors. Roger and I serve together on the Department of Homeland Security’s Secure Borders and Open Doors Advisory Committee. I look forward to presenting Roger in the next couple of weeks.

As for the celebration of National Tourism Week this week? It's not a "party 'till you drop" feeling in the air, but there is good news. Travel is at an all time high, competition is fierce and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight, except for the worst of news. Fuel is also at an all time high too. We are seeing that many airlines cannot hold on any longer with the fuel prices climbing higher each week. For now, our advice is to buy in advance; plan now and buy your tickets. Prices will never by this low again.

Please join us this Sunday for the best and most informative travel program on the planet. But of course, I am bias.
Safe travels,

Sandy

Meet Daniela Cohen. Daniela lives in Israel on a kibbutz where she raised her eight children. The Ein Gedi kibbutz is paradise to those who know it. On the Dead Sea, at the lowest point of the earth, Ein Gedi is just yards from where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Jonathon Day and Cheri Anderson join Sandy to talk about their roles as hospitality professors in the tourism industry. Longtime favorites to the show, Thomas Steinmetz and Greg Baxter also join Sandy to bring the good news of travel this week. Eric Zmolek and Nick Gosling stop in to talk with Sandy about travel for the 20-something crowd. Patrick Peartree brings news from TravelTalkMEDIA. CLICK HERE to LISTEN to programming.
