"It was a pleasure for me to have the opportunity on behalf of the Tanzania Tourist Board to be part of your travel talk radio program. The live broadcast and Internet archives presented me with a unique format to reach a worldwide audience and tell the listeners about Tanzania's diverse tourism product, our cultural heritage programs and the steps that we are taking to protect the environment. I was also pleased to be able to remind listeners from all over the world, that Mt. Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania!. I look forward to being on your program in the near future."

Welcome to this week’s TravelTalkMEDIA newsletter.

Happy Fourth of July Weekend to you all. No matter where you live it's always a good time to think about our freedom to move about and cross borders easily and effectively. This week we are pleased to bring you a new guest from the Department of Homeland Security, Adam Solerno, who will talk about coming in and out of the USA and Adam introduces us to the new TSA Black Diamond Lane being offered to passengers within the US.

Join Sandy Dhuyvetter, Executive Producer and Host of TravelTalkRADIO, as she broadcasts from the TravelTalkMEDIA studios in Southern California. Her guests include Adam Salerno, Business Liaison for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, John Jenkins, Vice President and Hotel Manager at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, and Katie Test, a Public Relations Manager for the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. JP Wollersheim, a Senior Product Manager for Windows Live at Microsoft, talks with Sandy about how to share that perfect travel photo, Neil Chapman, Managing Director of Teleticket and the founder of MissedaFlight.com, reveals new safety nets for passengers who have missed their plane in the United Kingdom, and Thomas Steinmetz is on to talk about eTurboNews and this week's travel news. Also accompanying Sandy in the studio are TravelTalkMEDIA's Vice President of Operations Patrick Peartree and Travel Writer Nick Gosling. Don't miss a great show! CLICK HERE

This week, I asked our travel writer, Nick Gosling,  to highlight one of TravelTalkMEDIA's executives, Patrick Peartree. Patrick joined me officially in the business in 2004 and we never looked back. He has schlepped my bags and our equipment all over this beautiful globe and he has believed from the beginning we had something special at TravelTalkMEDIA to share with the world.

Please enjoy a conversation with Patrick Peartree, by Nick Gosling.
Nick Gosling writes for TravelTalkMEDIA and other industry publications.

Nick Gosling:
What do you enjoy most about traveling the world?

Patrick Peartree: Certainly, there is so much to be learned and appreciated in this huge cornucopia of wondrous differences. And yet, the character of the many peoples of the many nations remain remarkably the same: warm, open, sharing, friendly, hospitable and welcoming. These to me are just some of the reasons one absolutely must venture abroad. It's really what I enjoy the most about traveling.

Patrick on Safari in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

NG: What do you like most about working with Sandy Dhuyvetter and the TravelTalkMEDIA Team?

PP: One thing is the break-neck speed at which some of these huge travel opportunities come at us. Many folks might prepare for the better part of year when they are planning their trip of a lifetime. With us, it could easily be a situation where we see an opportunity for a great story and compelling programming and we are off to an emerging tourism destination within a few short days. We don't exactly keep our bags packed, but we don't keep them in storage either.
For us, the only thing we can really rely on is CHANGE! Working with Sandy has been particularly enjoyable and I think in part because she is a brilliant artist and a master of multimedia and Internet technology. This unique combination of talent and knowledge gave her huge credibility in the travel and tourism industry in the early 90’s.

She is also a people person and can easily command a convention hall shoulder-to-shoulder with the captains of the industry. To see her clearly emerge in the past few years as a highly regarded travel expert and an international media celebrity wherever we travel, well, frankly it's sort of like traveling with a rock star of tourism. Very exciting, indeed, and Sandy is recognized and enthusiastically greeted and welcomed in every country, event and destination we visit. It's inspiring and I know the entire TravelTalkMEDIA team feels this way. We all have a passion for travel and for our mission at TravelTalkMEDIA of connecting our audiences to the experts in travel and tourism. Even thought there is obviously no manual or instruction book for what we are doing, Sandy carries a very bright LED torch and is boldly leading the way for us.

Tribute to Tanzania
By Sandy Dhuyvetter

It is with great pleasure that we bring you the spectacular country and people of Tanzania in Eastern Africa. We spent five days visiting three National Parks and many hours interviewing Tanzania’s experts in tourism and wildlife conservation, including the people of the land called the Maasai.

Directory of Tanzanian programming and guests.

In fact, we developed over six hours of radio programming while there. While in Tanzania, we were blessed with incredible sights of spectacular wildlife, the opportunity to meet some of the most hospitable of people in the world and the experience of staying at many of the finest lodges in the national parks of Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara.
These kinds of travel experiences accentuate the words of St. Augustine when he said, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." Yet today, there is much to keep people home, we must work together to make travel accessible and affordable for all.
Please see and hear more at: http://www.traveltalkMedia.com/tanzania_news_jun08.html

Thank you for keeping in touch. We enjoy your comments and make every effort to make our programming relevant and timely.
Safe Travels,

Sandy Dhuyvetter
