Travel Journalist, Bruce Bommarito, COO and Executive Vice President of the US Travel Association in Washington, DC, Lamrani Mahdi, Manager of PR and Communications for the Moroccan Travel Market, and Mona Naffa, Founder and Director of the Society of Tourism International - Middle East (STI-ME.com).

We are back from a whirlwind trip to the Moroccan Travel Market (MTM) in Marrakech. We stayed at the Hotel Ryad Mogador Menara where we enjoyed great service, centralized location, spotty Internet and a warm welcome by the staff. Marrakech is a city that is robust and charming. You will find the meshing of old and new in Morocco and the people display an attitude filled with enthusiasm and curiosity. The MTM is proving to be one of the most important travel exhibits in Africa. Next year, we hope to see you there.

Enjoy our two hour TravelTalkRADIO programming. Below is an overview and links into our programming. This week's program is filled with interesting experts. I hope you will be able to take some time and listen at your leisure.

In-flight Meal Included

Maurice Otin, Founder and President of Ciel D’Afrique in Marrakech, Morocco

Our unanimous vote for the absolute best way to see Marrakech: from a hot air balloon at 1,000M sipping Dom Perignon. Get the royal treatment and live like a king (or queen) with a hostess serving you breakfast as you quietly float above the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Who says you can’t get meals on domestic flights anymore? Continued

Krazy like a Kyote

Pamela Mikesell, Founder of Krazy Kyote Activities & Tours in Sedona, Arizona

The ancient tribe of Anasazi Indians in Arizona believed that the towering sentinels of red rock surrounding Sedona held the very life of the Earth itself.

This is a spiritual and sacred site, a metaphysical vortex of super-charged energy set in a timeless landscape. From horseback to helicopter rides, Krazy Kyote Activities and Tours has a complete menu of offerings to help you customize the experiential adventure of a lifetime in one of the truly sublime and pristine locations in the entire United States. Continued

____________

Runaway Bride: Breezes Style

Amoi Leon, Director of Sales for Breezes in Runaway Bay, Jamaica

A whole new array of customizable wedding packages is now available at one of our favorite all-inclusive resorts, Breezes Runaway Bay in Jamaica. Be a Runaway Bride and take advantage of a simple ceremony that comes completely complimentary with your stay. Or, make your special day as elaborate as you desire for two or two hundred. Continued

____________

Magic Carpet in Marrakech

Robin Swados, Travel Journalist

We met Robin on the way to Marrakech to attend the Moroccan Travel Market and immediately knew we had found not only a great traveling companion but a good friend as well. Robin chats with us about a fantastic luxury tented retreat called Couleurs Berbers in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. And it was with Robin that we witnessed one of the most memorable bargaining sessions in all our world travels. It happened one night in the ancient marketplace of Marrakech as our new friend negotiated a finely woven wool rug from a local trader. Continued

Little Known Facts

Bruce Bommarito, COO and Executive Vice President of the US Travel Association in Washington, DC
Little known fact #1: The travel industry in the US contributes twice as much to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product as does the US auto making industry.

Robin negotiates a beautiful Moroccan
rug from Omar's collection of
pure wool carpets.

Little known fact #2: The US travel industry employs two and half times as many folks as does the US automakers. Little known fact #3: The US is just about the only country in the world that doesn’t market itself as a travel destination. What are we missing here? Bruce will let us know. Continued

____________

Travel Market in Marrakech

Lamrani Mahdi, Manager of PR and Communications for the Moroccan Travel Market
Now in its third edition and better than ever, the Moroccan Travel Market (MTM) keeps growing with attendance this year up nearly a third over 2009. The event takes place in perhaps the largest tented pavilion in all of Africa and the entire venue is, in true Berber fashion, built from the ground up each year. Once again, Marrakech and the MTM rolled out the red carpet to warmly welcome travel buyers and sellers from around the world. Exotic? Yes. Effective? Definitely! Interesting? Listen up! Continued

One last remark. One of our favorite destinations in the world is New Orleans, Louisiana, here in the US. After a long, hard-fought season, their beloved NFL team, the Saints, will be competing in the Superbowl early next month in South Florida. We want to wish our very best to the city and the team for good luck and great success. There isn't a more deserving community for a "big win" than New Orleans.

And whatever happens in the Superbowl, remember that the real party, win or lose, will be in New Orleans!

Congratulations dear friends and GO SAINTS!
